The closing bell has just sounded to end the second day of the 2011 SEMA Show. While the crowd appeared to be a little light in the morning, it definitely picked up in the afternoon with all halls experiencing good traffic.
Seeing celebrities is part of the draw to the SEMA show. Today, we saw Jack Roush making his way through the halls, NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski announcing a new sponsor and Chop Cut Rebuild's Dan Woods at the Classiuc Industries booth where the featured Duster will play a key role in the season's showings. At the Magnaflow booth, long lines wrapped around the entire area as people waited patiently to meet Mario Andretti (who had a new Camaro nearby) and Chip Foose.
Winners of various awards were displaying their hardware along with their products. A SEMA tradition, young lovelies were signing posters and posing for pictures. Often, you would see a crowd gathering and know what was happening.
Youth was well served today as the second round of the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow competition took place. Teams will go again tomorrow to determine the winners, who stand to receive thousands of scholarship dollars to further their education.
From the post secondary world, congratulations to Sean Murphy of Tennessee Technology Center, Athens who won the trivia contest sponsored by Gunk and Liquid Wrench. His school's program will receive $5,000. Murphy correctly answered eight of the 10 questions in the competition.
