This 1964 Dodge 330 is Lot S184 and is scheduled to cross the block on national television on Saturday, May 19 as part of the Mecum Spring Classic.
This car is documented as one of approximately 61 Hemi-powered factory lightweight Hemi drag racers built that year, only a handful of which were equipped with A3 4-speed manual transmissions. A former NHRA record holder and the subject of a Goodyear tire commercial during the 1992 Indy 500 broadcast, it has been fully restored from the ground up using new sheet metal, including a replacement unibody. It features a correctly date coded Hemi engine and driveline and retains the original aluminum lightweight parts and radiator support; additionally, two air cleaner setups are included along with original style racing headers and collector extensions. One of the nicest examples of its kind, this documented Red-on-Red factory Hemi lightweight racer comes with a copy of the original bill of sale, a letter from the original owner ordering the car and a letter from the original dealer to confirm the purchase and delivery in June of 1964.
More than 2,100 cars afe expected to cross the block at the event, held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, May 15-20. Complete details can be found at www.mecum.com
