The Carroll Shelby Foundation is offering fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to win a 50th anniversary Shelby Cobra. Throughout 2012, which marks the golden anniversary of the Shelby Cobra and Shelby American, people can enter a raffle for the chance to put this rare vehicle in their own garage.
“50 years have passed since the Cobra was built, a milestone that deserves recognition and celebration,” said Jenni Shreeves, executive director of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. “This raffle is the final opportunity to walk away with a true piece of automotive history and one of the most iconic sports cars ever built.”
Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Carroll Shelby Foundation, which was established by automotive icon Carroll Shelby to provide financial support for children battling life-threatening illnesses and to promote continuing education.
To celebrate five decades of high performance, only 50 of these limited edition continuation Cobras will be built. Painted "Shelby black" and filled with a premium wine colored leather interior, the anniversary car vehicle will sport special badges and wire wheels. This car will be powered by a small block Ford and connected to a five-speed transmission.
For a ticket price of $25, or $100 for five tickets, participants can place their name in the drawing. The winner will be announced in January 2013. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Carroll Shelby Foundation. For more information, please visit www.winashelby.org.
