Mustang's 49th Birthday
Special Date in Automotive History
Larry Jewett - April 17, 2013 10:43 AM
April 17 marks the birthday of the Ford Mustang. The date actually refers to the public reveal with some consideration March 9, the first day of production to be the actual birthday.
The Mustang has the notoriety of being the passenger car nameplate with the longest consecutive run (While Corvette is celebrating its 60th anniversary, there was no 1983 model). Organizers are planning a massive celebration in 2014, centering on this date, which will be the recognition of the 50th anniversary.
Through its existence, the Mustang, like most cars with long shelf life, has developed quite a following. Happy birthday Mustang. Long may you run.
