Michael Yager, eldest son of Mike and Laurie Yager, is joining Mid America Motorworks as a Corporate Director of the company. While his initial focus will be within the Purchasing and Catalog Analysis, Michael will also be observing all aspects of the company to bring himself up to speed on the current practices and standards within Mid America Autoworks.
“Michael brings a knowledge and skill set that we don’t currently have at Mid America Motorworks,” said founder and chief cheerleader Mike Yager. “It’s no different than hiring anyone for the abilities they can contribute to the business and we’re excited to welcome him to the team.”
After growing up at automotive events and taking his turn as a professional racer, Michael attended DePaul University in Chicago where he graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship and a minor in Finance. During his schooling, Michael spent a summer semester studying International Law at the London School of Economics.
After graduation, Michael spent 1.5 years at Bentley Gold Coast (BGC), an authorized dealership for Bentley, Rolls Royce, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Maserati. He also managed the wholesale department with a focus on dealer-to-dealer sales, which entailed selling cars that had reached a 90-day inventory rate.
Michael then took a position within the sales department at The Jet Collection (TJC) where he was involved with sales, communication with other brokers/dealers obtaining detailed information on their aircraft inventory and then assimilating massive, detailed research documentation in order to create a database of information on the aircraft. While at TJC, Michael also helped launch a car company within the organization focusing on high end retail cars, similar to that of BGC.
Through his experiences, Michael brings a different viewpoint of Mid America motorworks, not the least of which is the ability to turn a critical eye to the day-to-day details of the business. He will play an integral role in moving the aftermarket Corvette and Air-Cooled VW supplier and manufacturer to the next level.
