Slow sales are to blame and pick-up buyers will have one fewer option when considering their next truck

According to a report in the Detroit News, the Dodge Ram Dakota pickup truck will see its option not picked up for the future. Slow sales have been blamed for the decision that ends the line and puts about 40 people out of work. Company officials are reportedly studying other options to keep those people as employees of Chrysler.

In just more than 10 years, sales of the truck have fallen from over 177,000 in 2000 to just 13,000 in 2010. There has been no replacement announced for the product line, but corporate officials have hinted at a product that is more “car based” for the Ram line.
