Restomod on the Mecum stage

A 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air Bubble top will be among the Friday highlights at the upcoming Mecum auction in Houston. The car is scheduled to be sold on Friday, April 11 and the auction runs until April 12.
The car has been converted into a high-end restomod. It started with the frame-off restoration plans and soon found changes being made along the way. A modern LS1 5.7 Corvette fuel-injected engine was dropped in place in front of a six-speed transmission and Hurst shifter. With the newfound go power, stopping became more important, so four-wheel Corvette slotted and cross-drilled disc brakes were added. Other improvements include a CPP quick-ratio power steering, ceramic coated headers with dual exhaust, Be Cool aluminum radiator with electric fan and Air Ride Technologies four-wheel suspension. The car rides of 18-inch (front) and 20-inch Billet Specialties wheels and has been painted a stunning Reef Coral.
The car will be offered as lot F91.1. For more details, visit www.mecum.com
