Mecum will be offering a 1916 Cadillac Town Car at the upcoming sale in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The auction will be held July 24-26 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center.
The car, to be sold as Lot S93, picked up AACA Junior and Senior Awards immediately after a body-off restoration by Rheinhold’s Restorations, completed in 1988. Other awards include First in Class, Best in Show and People’s Choice at the 1989 Cadillac La Salle Club Grand National. It also won the Senior Award at the golden Anniversary show of the Cadillac La Salle Club and Lion’s Award for Excellence at the 30th anniversary Meadowbrook Concours d’Elegance.
This car is a Type 53 featuring an aluminum body with steel fenders. The Frost Green exterior paint is offset by the black on the fenders. It is powered by a V-8 aluminum engine with cast headers, dual water pumps and dual exhaust. Believed to be the only Healey-bodied car for this vintage, the interior is teal mohair with silk brocade trim and includes a flower vase. Mileage is estimated at 20,945 miles. The car rides on 35-inch tires and includes two spares.
