Automobile art show opens at the Chase Tower Building in downtown Detroit

This year’s exhibit is a prelude to 2013 when Detroit Knows Cars becomes the annual Motor City Automobile Fine Art Competition, an international art competition that will offer cash “Awards of Excellence” to attract the interest and entries of the best automobile artists in the world.  This event will serve to bring notoriety to Detroit as a vibrant, aesthetic, and energetic community.  Quicken Loans and Bedrock Real Estate Services are in-kind sponsors of the exhibit.

What: Premiering in downtown Detroit, Detroit Knows Cars is an automobile fine art exhibit featuring works from some of the best-known and respected automobile fine artists in the country.  Detroit, known around the world as the Motor City, is the fitting location to launch this exhibit. It will become the latest automotive legacy for the city that put the USA on wheels!

The exhibit will include members of the prestigious Automotive Fine Art Society, as well as other highly regarded artists who have exhibited at the finest classic and collector car events in the country including the Concours d’Elegance shows at Amelia Island, Meadow Brook, Pebble Beach, and St. John’s.

The collective works of these artists will illustrate many different approaches to portraying the aesthetic value, significance, and beauty of automobiles.  The exhibit will include painting, photography, and sculpture -- all confirming the notion that the automobile is an appropriate subject of fine art.
