A special event is planned for Saturday, November 10 to benefit the relief efforts for those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Rockers J. Geils and Luthier Jol Dantzig, along with author Tom Cotter, will be gathering at Billy Joel’s 20th Century Cycles in Oyster Bay, New York.

On this day, Cotter will be donating five dollars from the sale of his book, Rockin’ Garages while the shop will donate five dollars from every T-shirt and hat sold. A percentage of the proceeds will benefit Harry Chapin’s Long Island Cares Food Bank.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The location is home to musician Billy Joel’s collection of vintage motorcycles (not for sale).

Rockin’ Garages is a brand new volume that chronicles the connection between musicians and cars. You meet the stars, who tell you about their history and their passion as they open the doors to their own personal garages and collections to allow you to look inside. Each profile is complemented by Michael Alan Ross’ top-notch photography.

The 192-page hardcover book is available through Motorbooks for $35.00. Details are available at www.motorbooks.com
