Fun for All in Tennessee

In case you’re not aware, Coker Tire is a specialty tire company that also owns the legendary Honest Charley Speed Shop. The Coker Tire compound (no pun intended) consists of both the Coker and Honest Charley facilities, located in the historic southside of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
With restored buildings all around, and easy access from the interstate, the idea of a cruise-in at Coker seemed very feasible. The staff got together and ironed out the details and spread the word.
Held on September 17th, the cruise in would fall on the same weekend as the Coker Tire Challenge, a vintage car rally. It gave cruise-in participants a chance to see some pretty cool vehicles, in addition to the normal cruise-in scene.
Coker Tire, Honest Charley Speed Shop and Honest Charley Garage opened its doors to the public. A cool bluegrass band called Mountain Cove entertained and local high school shop class (East Ridge High School) who competes in the “Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge” was on hand. They disassembled and rebuilt a small block Chevy in about 20 minutes.
Overall, a few hundred cars surrounding the Coker compound turned out to be quite the party, and Coker is planning to make this cruise-in more of a regular event in the future, so stay tuned for dates on the next one.
