Classic Industries is continuing its 35th anniversary by taking a break from the sun and sand of Huntington Beach, CA, and heading to Detroit for the legendary cruise-in event on Woodward Ave. This trip is especially fitting since Classic Industries owes much of its success to the Motor City. In addition to the fact that the iconic vehicles behind the restoration hobby originated from Detroit, Classic Industries was founded by a Detroit native, Jeff Leonard, who came to Southern California, noticed many well-preserved 1960’s muscle cars, and saw a demand for parts and accessories to keep these vehicles on the road.

“Coming from Detroit, I was used to seeing lots of rust on the few surviving older models that were still on the Michigan highways, but in California, there were plenty of these cars still cruising the streets without a single speck of rust,” said Leonard, “Having had difficulty locating a replacement carpet set for my own 1967 Camaro, I realized that with so many classic cars still driving, there would be a need for parts that dealers could no longer provide. I decided to do whatever I could to bring quality reproduction and replacement parts to an enthusiast market that was in desperate need of them.”

Leonard started his company in the mid-1970s. Thanks to its connection to the Motor City, Classic Industries quickly became the restoration industry leader and 35 years later, continues to dominate the GM, Dodge, and Plymouth restoration parts market. From its headquarters in Surf City, USA, Classic Industries produces eight different mail order catalogs that help countless classic car enthusiasts keep their cars on the road.

Classic Industries will set up at the Northwood Shopping Center at the corner of Woodward Avenue and 13 Mile Road on August 18, 2012. Woodward Dream Cruise participants are invited to stop by. Anyone who visits the Classic Industries booth to say, “Happy 35th Anniversary!” will receive a free Classic Industries Camaro poster and vintage Classic Camaro decal featuring the original company logo, while supplies last.
