The three-day event, which took place Sept. 21-23, 2012 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, featured modified muscle cars, high-end exotics, Pro Mods and more participating in various drag racing, autocross, car show and dyno challenge events.
"I think the premier Lingenfelter Performance Nationals was a fun event at a phenomenal venue, and we hope to host our annual event here every year," said Ken Lingenfelter, owner of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. "The cars were incredible on the track, with many participants setting new records in the drag race classes. We are sincerely thankful for the sponsors who helped us launch this new event: Royal Purple(r); Adam's Premium Car Care(tm); CORSA(r) Performance Exhausts; Edelbrock(r); Holley(r); Karl Performance; Magnuson Superchargers; Pedders Suspension; Reliable Carriers, Inc.(r); RideTech; and Wanda Refinish."
Many races featured tight competition as Lingenfelter created unique class matchups that leveled the playing field between professional and amateur drivers. After a rain delay on Saturday, racing continued Sunday with Lingenfelter awarding final winners with trophies and prizes that afternoon.
The Lingenfelter Performance Nationals also served as an official qualifying event for the OPTIMA(r) Batteries Ultimate Street Car Invitational. Dave Mikels won the Grand Champion award in the OPTIMA Qualifier, driving a 2012 Corvette Grand Sport owned by Brian Thomson.
