The 2011 Cool Cars Cool Mountains show presented by the Gunnison Car Club is in the books. The show started with a Friday night display as four blocks of Main Street were turned into a display lot with visitors viewing more than 120 cars. The next morning, the show moved to Joergensen Park with more than 250 cars on hand. There was representation from a 1915 Buick that was purchased new in Gunnison to a 2011 Corvette and everything in between. During the awards ceremony, Jim and Rick Schmidt of National Parts Depot recived the Lee Iacocca award from Mr. Iacocca's personal assistant, Norma Saken. A poker run was held afterwards, raising an additional $125 for the Lee Iacocca Foundation. On Sunday morning, a caravan moved from Gunnison to Crested Butte, filling Elk Street with these show cars. Participants ate breakfast in the village and enjoyed the offerings of the local businesses before setting out for home.

Plans are already underway for the 2012 show, which will be the silver anniversary of the event. Participants came to the show from New Mexico, Arizona, Kansas, Wyoming and beyond.
