The 2012 Corvette Funfest has officially begun with the Thursday Fun Run and party in downtown Effingham, Illinois.  This year's event will offer a number of the popular activities and some new ideas. "The Largest Corvette Party in the World" will be celebrating the introduction of the 1963 split window coupe, which is commemorating its 50th anniversary. In preparation for the 100th anniversary, a time capsule has been put together and will be sealed on Saturday, to be opened in 2053.

The Corvette Funfest is held at the Mid America Motorworks headquarters with a vast parking field capable of holding all Corvettes who come to the show. The Friday night charity event will feature a screening of The Quest, which follows Chip Miller's dream to find the #3 Corvette that raced in Le Mans in 1960. On Saturday night, World Classic Rockers go to the main stage to entertain the crowd. The band is composed of former members of some of rock n roll's greatest bands.

Those on site will have a chance to hear top experts in seminars and have their Corvettes upgraded at Installation Dome. Self-guided tours of the MY Garage Museum will be available throughout the weekend.
