Mecum Auctions has featured many rare Corvettes at past events and there will be yet another to see and buy at the Mecum Auction in Houston, April 10-12.
Listed as Lot F184.1 and scheduled for sale on Friday, April 11, this 1972 ZR1 is one of 20 that were produced that year. It was a featured attraction in the Bloomington Gold Special Collection in 1999 and is documented with two tank stickers and other documents that include an NCRA Shipping Data Report and ownership history.
The car features a matching-numbers LT1 engine with the Rock Crusher M22 four-speed transmission. The J56 heavy duty brakes and F41 heavy duty suspension are part of the package. The car is Elkhart Green with Saddle leather inside. It was produced on February 23, 1972 and delivered to an Illinois dealer. The odometer shows 16,300 original miles. The car has formerly been a part of many well-known collections.
