Inside Moyock Muscle

It probably wouldn’t take much to get this nice ’65 Nova back on the road. A car like this would make a fun daily driver.

While we see a lot of Corvairs in our travels, we rarely see a 1961 station wagon. This one qualifies as rare and unusual.

For fans of the Mercury Caliante, this 1964 would make a great project car for you since it appears that fixing it up would not be all that hard to do.

We have seen a lot of cars worse than this 1955 Mercury Montclaire put back onto the road. This one could and should be done.

The oldest car currently in stock is this 1949 Buick. It is a very restorable piece and sits out by the road to attract attention.

This 1953 Chevy may be rough looking, but it’s all there.

With the ’68 Charger becoming so popular in recent years, we doubt that this one will end up going for parts. Moyock currently has two of these and a ’69.

Purchasing and driving this beautiful Plymouth police car would certainly be better than riding in the back of it with a state trooper driving it. (Don’t ask how we know.)

Of the several Road Runners in stock right now, this 1970 needs to be repainted.

There are at least 20 old Mustangs at Moyock, covering most years of the collectibles. This one is a 1973.

This 1970 Camaro on the side of the shop looks like it could go either way as project or parts car. We guess that if you are interested in it, you’ll need to call and ask what their plans are to do with it.

The ’64 Impala is a collector favorite. Moyock has several from this generation. This one already has a few pieces missing, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it is being parted out, so ask first.

This 1979 Trans Am represents one of the newest collectible vehicles in the yard. This one is very restorable and would make a great choice as a future classic to buy and restore.

Everywhere you look, you can see potential as Moyock Muscle has some fine cars in a small area.

Who wouldn’t want to add this ’69 Road Runner to their collection? The paint is pretty faded but the car is all there.

This 1950 Dodge is definitely missing a few pieces. We can’t be sure of its fate, so call on it to find out.

This ’59 Ford can be a show winner someday if someone wants to deal with the rust issues. Otherwise, it would make an excellent parts car.

Here are more of the Mustangs that can be found throughout the yard. We captured this pair from the early generations sitting together in the field.

A very collectible car from the Chevrolet line would be this 1958 Del Ray. It seems ’58s of any style are some of the most popular Chevys today and Moyock has two of these.

One of the many ’50s cars at Moyock Muscle is this ’53 Pontiac. Most of the ’50s cars here are rough, but this Pontiac is one of the better ones and could be saved.

This ’56 Studebaker is the only Studebaker in the yard. You can’t help but notice the amazing condition of this example.

There is a small cluster of Chevy wagons in one corner of the yard. This one, a ’56, has obviously had some work done on it before it was sent to the yard. It would be a challenge, but it could be finished with a lot of work.

You’ll find this ’57 in the wagon cluster. Could it be saved? We know that these have always been a hot item. There is another ’57, and two ’56s nearby.

This ’67 Olds sits in the farthest corner of the yard. The front has some rust, hard to see in the brown flame job.

If you plan on doing some browsing, allow yourself plenty of time. You’ll just never know what you might find.

Moyock Muscle is located in the town of Moyock, North Carolina, just over the border a few miles south of Virginia.

They are fairly new on the scene, having been started in 2001 and at the current location since 2005. Still, they offer just about anything that a car collector could possibly want from parts to whole cars to even restoring the car for you.

Once you pull into the parking lot, you check in with the guys in the shop, where there are many restorations in progress. Browsing the yard is allowed and encouraged, but you may want to start with the project cars sitting in front. Most of these are choice project cars that are very restorable with just a little work remaining.

Around the side of the shop, you will find another 50 or so cars that are tucked in any way they will fit. These cars need a little more work than the eye catchers out front, but most are restorable.

From there, to the left of the shop and out back, you will find another 200 or so cars and trucks scattered. Some of these are simply parts cars for other restorations and parts will be sold off of these if the car is beyond restoration hope.

The goal of Moyock Muscle is to sell the cars complete if they can. All parts must be removed by the staff if the car has been designated as a parts car.

Current inventory has about 300 cars ranging from 1949 to 1980. You can keep up with the yard through their website www.moyockmuscle.com. We did note some unusual, rare and desirable cars. The website is fun, but there is nothing like visiting this “Field of Dreams” in person.
