Introduced in 1975 as a personal luxury model, the Chrysler Cordoba was a success, with 150,000 sold the first year, a bright spot in an otherwise dismal year for the company. It was originally designed to be an all-new Plymouth Sebring, but executives moved it over to Chrysler. Many people remember the car due to advertising on television featuring actor Ricardo Montalban, and his reference to the car’s interior with its “soft Corinthian leather.” All Cordobas were built at the Windsor, Ontario, Canada, plant. Production ended in 1983.
