Drake Automotive Group has teamed up with the Mustang Club of America and Mustangs of East Texas to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang in 2014. Scott Drake donated an unrestored 1965 Ford Mustang convertible, along with over $10,000 in parts, for the complete restoration of this tribute to America's greatest car. Members of Mustangs of East Texas, a Mustang Club of America regional group, have generously donated their time and talents to this nostalgic project.
In 2010, Scott Drake teamed up with Mustangs of East Texas on the "Pay it Forward" project car, which was auctioned at Barrett Jackson for $42,000, and all proceeds went to East Texas Crisis Center. "Working with Mustangs of East Texas on the 1966 Mustang convertible "Pay it Forward" project was such a pleasure. With their talents and dedication, we knew working with Craig Chesley and his club members were the right choice for this project also" said Scott Drake, President of Drake Automotive Group.
The fully restored 50 Years Tribute Car was proudly displayed in the Drake Automotive Group booth at the 2013 SEMA Show and will play an important role in one of the Mustang Club of America’s 50th Birthday Celebration events in April 2014. The 50 Years Tribute Car will ultimately be auctioned in January 2015 with all proceeds being awarded to the National Down Syndrome Society, a charity chosen by Scott and Suzanne Drake.
